Official Scouting Report

12/05/2020 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend Zacary is a coachable RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Offensive Skills Weekend. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and gets into his load well. He works through a level swing and produces consistent contact. Taking a square stride toward the pitcher can help Zacary barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Zacary is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Zacary continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and developing off speed pitches will aid in improving abilities on the mound. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

10/18/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Zacary is a (6'1"/165) 2-way player (RHP/OF) who graduates in 2021. On the mound, this righty has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming out of his hand with some deception. He stays directional and repeats his deliver well. He is consistently around the zone and throws strikes with all of his pitches. FB ranges from 66-67 mph. Breaking ball shows 9/3 shape - 58-60 mph. Reaching back (lengthening his arm action) while working to finish with more extension will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and is aggressive to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball with 2-hands and fires accurate throws into his target. As a hitter, this lefty displays a crouched stance with smooth rhythm to load. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with some pop. Larkin has a solid skill-set and is a few adjustments away from getting to where he wants to be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
