11/03/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Zach is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend. Behind the dish, Zach has a balanced primary and athletic secondary stance. He presents a low target and works behind the ball. He has a clean exchange, a quick release, and replaces his feet when throwing to the bases. Continuing anticipate runners and creating momentum with his lower half will allow him to be more efficient when throwing. He leads with his glove and controls balls in the dirt with his chest. On the bump, Zach gathers over the rubber and separates on time. He needs to continue to find a balance point, ride his back toward the plate, and throw north to south. This will allow him to finish over his front side and work the bottom half of the zone. Zach is a hard worker and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Zach is a hardworking catching prospect who graduates in 2022. As a right-handed hitter, Zach has a square setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He has an on-time stride and partially uses his lower half throughout his swing path. He has a long swing path and produces square contact. Zach does a nice job working the count and battling through ABs. He is a line drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. Behind the plate, Zach has a solid approach with potential to improve. He does a nice job receiving the ball. Zach also blocks the ball well and effectively recovers. He can benefit from a quicker exchange and improved arm strength. Overall, Zach has a balanced game with potential to improve with development.

02/24/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Zach is a hard working and talented 2022 catching prospect that made several adjustments during the pitching and catching accelerated training weekend. Behind the dish, Zach presents a big and low target. He tracks the ball into his glove and makes the routine block. Continuing to exchange the ball in front of his body and creating momentum in his lower half will allow him to get ride of the ball more efficiently. Zach will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/09/2017 - Hitting Accelerated Training HS- Columbia, MD Zach is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and is smooth getting into his load. He works to barrel up the ball and produces solid contact to his pull side. Zach can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter, square stride to the pitcher. With four more years to develop, Zach has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Zach is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Zach shows good pre-pitch wrist action and tracks the ball well with his eyes. He throws with a loose arm action from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws on-line to his target. Zach can improve as a C by getting into a lower primary stance. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent line drives to all fields. Zach can improve as a hitter by taking a more square stride to the ball. With five more years to develop, Zach has the time and potential to further progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
