01/21/2013 - College PREP - Tucson, AZ Zach is a tall and strong C/3B with a plus arm. In his workout in Tucson, he showed pop times as low as 2.02. He has good body movement and a strong flexible position behind the plate. His blocking form is good but he needs to work on his strength and balance so he doesn't need his hands to return to his feet to recover the ball. Zach's arm is strong but his throwing times could increase with some work on his transfer and footwork as he falls toward 3B when making throws to 2B. At 3B he has smooth rhythm and soft hands. He should work on his pre-pitch setup, being more aggressive towards ground balls and getting lower in his fielding position. Offensively, he has an athletic setup with center balance and a nice lower half. Zach has a nice fluid, uphill swing. He should focus on starting his load earlier. He should also work on over all explosiveness and quickness.
