01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Zach is a solid, athletic C/RHP who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.14 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well through the swing. At the event, he had an outstanding event going 6 for 6 with a 2B and HR. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-78 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight cut. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Zach has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.
