01/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Milton, NY Zach continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.05 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side.

09/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Troy (Albany), NY Zachary continues to work hard on his skills on the diamond. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He works behind the ball, secures it with 2-hands and has a clean transfer to throw. At the plate, this righty shows an open stance with quiet/simple actions. He takes an aggressive hack, swings against a firm front side and connects with some pop to his pull-side. Even more power is in the tank with more lower 1/2 drive. This 2023 has tool with still time to progress.

12/08/2019 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Zach continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.48 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get his body down sooner. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a closed setup. He has good rhythm with quick hands that work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Zach is an athletic and talented 2023 3B prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week. At 3B, Zach has clean hands, fields the ball in an athletic position, and makes good throws across the diamond. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, anticipate the ball off the bat, and present a low early glove. At the plate, Zach starts in an open stance, and keeps a quiet head. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and staying in his legs will allow him to be balanced through contact. Zach is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

05/20/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Zach improved hitting grades, catching grades, and raised arm velo to 68 MPH during his last workout with the Factory. Behind the plate, Zach has firm hands, efficient footwork, and is a nice target behind the dish. He sits in quietly in a square position, and has a long release to 2nd base. In the OF, Zach has fluid feet, he fields in rhythm, and he plays through the ball well. He has a quick/clean exchange, and throws with consistency from a short arm action to his target. At the plate, Zach improved both hitting and power grades to 35's. He has a simple/repeatable stroke, a short stride, and a direct barrel to the ball. He makes square/consistent contact and works the ball gap to gap.

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Zach is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square, athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives to the gaps. Zach can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half through more. With six more years to develop, Zach has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

07/07/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Zach continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At 3B, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 54-57 mph with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

05/14/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Poughkeepsie, NY Zachary is a 3B/OF who will graduate in 2023. Defensively at 3B, he takes aggressive cuts as he tries to work around the GB. He fields the ball, sets his feet and makes accurate throws to his target. In the OF, he hustles hard laterally as he tracks down fly balls. He tries to work behind the ball and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, Zachary shows patience as he tracks pitches into the zone. 3. Quick exchange
Outfield
1. Quicker footwork
2. Work from ground up
3. Arm strength (long toss)

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
