Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Zachary is a hardworking and talented 2019 2-way prospect with a good baseball IQ. In the OF, Zachary is on time with his prep step, he's aggressive to the ball, and fields the ball in an athletic position. He needs to continue to read the ball off the bat, works behind the ball, and understanding positioning pre pitch. At the plate, Zachary starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has rhythm in his hands. He needs to continue to get his front foot down on time, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside drive with his lower half. On the bump, Zachary has a loose arm action, attacks the strike zone, and shows confidence on the mound. He needs to continue to gather over the rubber, separate on time, and work north to south in his delivery. He has good action on his change up and has a 10-4 break on his curveball. Zachary will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/26/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Glendale (Milwaukee), WI Zachary worked out in the OF and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Zachary has good pre-pitch actions, he gets in a solid ready position, and takes good angles to the ball. He fields ground ball aggressively, plays low and through, and has a short arm action with good direction to his target. Added quickness, arm strength, and playing more through the ball can help defense improve. On the mound, Zachary stands over the rubber well balanced, he works down in the zone, and finishes with his chest out over his front knee. He will need to loosen his arm action and smooth out his delivery to help mound effectiveness get better. At the plate, Zachary has good balance, a simple swing, and a middle of the field approach. He stays inside the ball well, has a direct barrel, and makes consistency contact. More bat speed and lower body will help hitting spike.

07/11/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Zach continues to progress and show improvements both as a RHP and an OF. During this event, he showed the ability to consistently barrel balls up and spray to all fields. Zach showed an athletic, square stance with a short load to get engaged in his lower half. His hands are quick through the zone as he then gets good extension to create carry on the baseball. In the OF, Zach showed fluid, active actions and attacked the ball aggressively. On the mound, Zach showed the ability to pound the zone and get hitters out as he had a 1,2,3 inning. He threw from a high 3/4 arm slot, commanding his fastball 70-72 mph while also showing good feel for his breaking ball and changeup. Zach shows a high level of baseball IQ and plays the game hard. Continuing to get bigger and stronger in the weight room will help him improve on the mound and in the field.

05/14/2017 - College PREP - Madison, WI Zachary is a versatile RHP/OF prospect who has good potential and graduates in 2019. On the mound, Zachary has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. He keeps his eyes on his target and extends through his release while doing a nice job utilizing his front side. Zachary has good run on his fastball and his off speed pitches are developing. In the outfield, Zachary plays with active, quick footwork and gets a good jump on the ball with an aggressive approach. He fields the ball athletically with soft hands and has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action. His throws are accurate with good strength. Offensively, Zachary has an open stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Zachary has a direct swing path and stays inside the baseball. He produces consistent contact with a middle of the field approach. Overall, Zachary plays the game hard with a well-rounded skill set giving him a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
