Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

02/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Palmetto, FL Zachary is an athletic two-way player (OF/RHP) in the 2023 class. In the field, he has active feet and is aggressive in his GB ball pursuit. He works to get behind and through the baseball in a low and athletic position. He has pocket awareness and his exchanges are quick and clean. Releases from a high arm slot and follows his throws well to produce carry (83 velo) and accuracy to his target. On the mound he operates with a 3-pitch mix. His FB topped at 80, while his 10/4 shaped CB sat 69-71 with tight spin. His SP/CH sat 67-70 and showed signs of life. He works downhill well and is aggressive to the plate. Maintaining his eyes on the target, will assist in pitch placement. At the plate, he begins in a squared base and transitions in to his load phase well. Has a solid bat angle to proves to be able to hit in the bottom half of the zone. Creates solid contact to the pull side. Working to keep his chest behind his front knee, will allow him to stay inside the baseball longer. Overall, has two years to become and elite two-way player college coaches are look for.

08/30/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Zachary is an OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Zachary shows active footwork and covers ground well. He makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Zachary field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He generates fast bat speed through the zone, producing solid contact and line drives. Zachary can barrel up more baseballs by maintaining center balance throughout his swing. On the mound, Zachary shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 61-62mph with 11-5 break. Knuckleball sits from 47-49mph with tumbling action. Loosening his arm action can help Zachary improve his pitch command. With three more years to develop, Zachary has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
