10/17/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) At the Accelerated Training Weekend, Zachary showed a square and balanced stance and worked through a soft and square stride. Working to activate the hands as opposed to allowing them to drop will help with the launch position for Zachary. Creating some rhythm and staying more fluid through the launch process will help improve Zachary's timing and also allow for increased bat speed and barrel accuracy. Zachary will also benefit from allowing the baseball to travel deeper into the hitting zone before starting his swing; letting the ball travel deeper will allow for Zachary's swing to be shorter and more compact to the baseball and also allow for more drive of the barrel through the hitting zone. Zachary's dedication will allow his game to continue to improve.

07/06/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Cleveland, OH Zachary continues to work hard on his game. Defensively, he has active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw, firing the ball accurately across the diamond. Continuing to develop his lateral footwork will help to increase range in the INF. With the bat, he has a closed setup with good balance. Swing is level as he drives through the ball at contact. Relaxing / loosening his grip will help to increase bat speed. Only a 2020 grad - Browning still has a ton of time to develop his skills.

08/31/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Zachary as great ability to use the hands during the swing, but he doesn't let his entire body work during the swing. He has great hands, which lets him make good contact consistently, but he is missing out on power since he doesn't use his lower half during the swing. It looks at times like Zachary is scared to swing and miss, so he doesn't swing hard and tries to guide the barrel to the baseball. He needs to learn that swinging and missing in baseball is okay, and it's okay to take a big swing at times. In order to get the most out of his lower half, he will need to make some mechanical adjustments. Zachary needs to widen his stance, he tends to stand tall which will take away from his power, and also he needs to make sure he keeps his front side strong. At times he swings with a soft front side, which means he lets the front leg bend during the swing. When the front leg bends and becomes soft the back side isn't able to drive like it should be able too.

08/03/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Cleveland, OH Zach is a thin, 3rd baseman with average size. Defensively, Zach has good pre-pitch actions, firm hands, and he looks the ball into his glove well. He has a clean exchange, and throws with average strength across the diamond. At the plate, Zach has an athletic set-up, good balance, and average bat speed. Zach will need to work on the following in order to improve abilities.

Defense
1. Widen base
2. Earlier glove
3. Play more through
4. Long toss
Offense
1. Keep hands high
2. More lower 1/2
3. Rhythm / timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
