11/06/2016 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Zachary is a lean OF who will graduate in 2017. In the OF, he shows smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he reads balls well off the bat. He is aggressive but will benefit by getting behind balls with his feet / body and play through momentum to target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Zachary has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
