Official Scouting Report

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Zachary is an athletic (5'10"/150) two-way prospect (RHP/2B) in the class of 2021. On the mound, he uses a three-pitch mix with a good feel for his offspeed pitches. FB ranges 70-74, CB has 11-5 shape with good break, and CH has deceptive FB arm speed. He commands the bottom of the zone well with all three pitches and tries to work ahead in the count. At 2B, he starts in a relaxed/ready position using a smooth glove to make all routine plays. He creates a quick/clean exchange allowing him to release the ball quickly. Throws are accurate from a 3/4 arm slot. At the plate, this righty shows comfortable hands with simple/repeatable hitting mechanics. He works through his lower half to generate power and spray the ball toward the center of the field (exit velo = 85 mph). Mental makeup is a plus as he plays the game with good energy/body language and stays engaged. Zachary is a hard working prospect and we look forward to watching him compete in the future.

01/24/2021 - All-In Membership - Parker (Denver), CO Zachary continues to shine on the diamond. At 2B, displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Zachary is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Recruiting Classic. In the field, Zachary makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a soft stride. He generates fast bat speed with plus barrel control, producing solid contact. On the mound, Zachary gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline toward the plate. Zachary shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits at 62mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits at 68mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Zachary is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

10/04/2020 - All-In Membership - Parker (Denver), CO Zachary is a lean 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2021. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he showed a controlled / repeatable delivery that allows his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed range of 68-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Zachary has potential with time and room to progress his game.

05/16/2020 - All-In Membership - Parker (Denver), CO Zachary is a R/R SS who has upside. Defensively, he displays active prep footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. Hands are presented out front as he gathers smoothly and has a clean transfer to throw. Working through the ball and gaining more ground toward his target at 1B will help to get even more into his throws. With the bat, this RHH displays an athletic setup with rhythm to load. Swing is level to and through the zone as he connects and hits line-drives back up the middle of the field. Working to engage his full lower 1/2 will help to tap into more power potential. This 2021 grad is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
