06/16/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Zachary is a hard working C prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Omaha National World Series. Behind the plate, Zachary presents a good target and receives the ball with soft hands. He replaces his feet well to throw and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate to the 2B bag. He moves to block on time and covers up well. Making a quicker exchange can help Zachary improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with loose hands. He gets into a simple load and takes a level swing, leading to hard contact and line drives. Zachary can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Zachary is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/02/2018 - College PREP - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Zachary is a lean catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.25-2.46 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He displays a soft glove and sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing. With 2 years to further develop, Zachary has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
