12/17/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 1 Reis showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Scranton, PA. Feet are active as he works around balls, displaying soft, clean hands. He needs to work to improve foot speed, play through balls more, and build more arm strength to improve defensive grades. At the plate, Zachary shows a balanced approach and lets the ball travel well. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed with a short direct path to ball. He flashes gap to gap power when he centers the baseball. To continue to improve hitting grades needs to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with 2 2B and 3 BB as he displays a solid eye. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-73 mph with good arm side sink. Breaking ball displays gradual break and needs to develop a consistent release point, working to stay on top to improve pitch. Control is a plus as he pounds the zone with a lot of strikes.
