08/06/2023 - National Showcase - Seattle, WA Zachary continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork in attacking and playing through ground balls well. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now displaying solid abilities through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Zachary continues to shows a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 56 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Zachary is a class of 2027 SS/RHP prospect. In the field, he showed very good range laterally. Did a good job of using his hands to field low and out front. Showed very agile feet. At the plate, he showed an advanced approach that focused on driving the ball to the middle of the field. Started in a tall and open stance. Did a good job using his lower ½ throughout the swing. Showed very good barrel control. On the mound, he showed feel for all 3 of his pitches. FB was best pitch with slight cutting actions. Threw all pitches from a High ¾ arm slot. Zachary is a good prospect that we hope to see again in the future.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Zachary continues to shine on the baseball diamond. In the MIF, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 49-50 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loopy break. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/22/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Lynnwood (Seattle), WA Zach is a scrappy SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. In the field, Zach shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with plus bat speed, leading to consistent contact to all fields. On the mound, Zach works with a clean arm and extends through his release. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Zach shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 41-47mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 47-48mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
