11/01/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Futures South Strickland worked in the 86-87 range with late natural cut action, and showed a straighter fastball in the 88-89 range. He was around plate the plate with both - drove FB downhill well from short arm stroke. Spun rarely seen mid-to-upper 70s curve with 11-5 shape. Held it almost like SL and was very aggressive thru release. Flashed depth, is a projectable pitch that also allows for projection on his FB as well. Also showed a low 80s changeup, giving him three usable pitches - all mostly around the plate but just wild enough to create doubt in hitter's minds. All pitches are firm and have good plane - not easy for hitters to diagnose.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
