07/10/2016 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Zachary continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean as he presents on time and out front. He shows off his athletic ability on his turns / feeds of the double play. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an uphill swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Zachary is a young, MIF who is a hard worker that brings energy to the field. Defensively, he shows active footwork as he hustles into a square fielding position. He works low from the ground-up and tracks GB's into his mitt. Exchange is clean with accurate throws across the diamond. Continuing to develop his arm strength through a long toss program will aid in his growth as a ballplayer. Offensively, Wright has a contact approach as he's looking to barrel the ball up. He connects and hits the ball where it's pitched, using the entire field. Letting the ball travel deeper into the hiring zone along with engaging more of his lower 1/2 will help to improve his abilities at the plate. Wright is a coachable player who has a ton of time to progress on the diamond.

09/13/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Zachary is a young (2021 grad) MIF. Defensively at 2B, he hustles and works hard to get into a square fielding position. He squares up to the GB and funnels smoothly. He has good range to his glove-side and makes the plays. With the bat, Zachary displays a square setup with rhythm to load. He swings on a level path and works to engage his lower 1/2, driving the ball back up the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Glove presentation out in front
2. Lower fielding position
3. Play through ball
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Contact points
3. Extension through contact

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
