Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1BPosition Projection

06/18/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Zachary continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best and now displays outstanding power potential. He has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, displaying gap to gap pop (exit velocity = 86 mph). At the event, he was 5 for 9 with 3 2B. At 1B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is sure as he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

02/07/2016 - College PREP - Tomball (Houston), TX Zachary is a (6'2"/260) 2-way player (1B/RHP) who has a solid all-around skill-set. At 1B, he shows active prep footwork and moves well right and left. He picks out the hops and makes the plays with soft/sure hands. He moves well around the 1B bag with the ability to adjust to throws up and down the line. As a hitter - this righty shows centered balance with rhythm to load. He barrels the ball up with pop and sprays the whole field. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, has smooth separation and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 72-77 mph as he works it in and out. Curveball shows 11/5 shape with god action and depth. Changeup shows slight sink and he works to keep it down in the zone. Lengthening his stride and utilizing his frame to drive off the rubber downhill toward the plate will help to get more into his FB. A 2018 grad - Zachary is a solid 2-way prospect who is one to keep an eye on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
