Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

11/19/2017 - College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Zack is a compact, athletic two-way prospect with a great work ethic and projectable tools. He has blazing speed that gives him great range in the outfield and the ability to swipe bags. He shows feel for the position with a quick first step and the ability to make all the plays near him. He has soft hands to field and gathers quickly to make accurate throws to the infield. At the plate, he swings it well from the right side on a compact path to the ball to make consistent contact. His level stroke leads to line drives to all fields and he also shows some pop to the pull side. On the mound, he features a fastball, curveball, slider and changeup to keep hitters off balance with a good speed differential. His arm is clean and smooth and he gets to a consistent release point and shows good whip. More lower-half drive and direction to the plate will improve velocity and stuff moving forward. Zack is an intriguing prospect we look forward to watching more as he develops.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
