03/10/2019 - College PREP - Raleigh, NC Zack is a solid, athletic RHP/ 2B with a bright future ahead on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.05. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81 mph. Breaking ball sits from 71-72 mph with 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup sits from 73-75 mph and shows a solid feel for pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally, displaying range. At the plate he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick, creating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. With his baseball tools, Zack will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
