08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1
Parsons continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved through a solid / athletic setup. His hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep his hands inside the ball and utilize all fields. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He is fundamentally sound. On the mound, his fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph with slight arm side run. His breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He shows a feel for his changeup with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and a strong understanding of the game.
06/03/2012 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY
Zach is a young, athletic OF / LHP with a thin frame. Defensively, Zach has playable feet, sure hands, and he takes good angles to the ball. He works behind it well, makes plays, and he throws with a long / loose arm with accuracy to his target. Getting on top of the ball, not flying open, and finishing off his throws can help OF skills improve. On the mound, Zach has a loose arm action, he repeats his delivery, and he has on-time separation. He has level shoulders, good direction toward home, and he is around the zone with his pitches. Pitching can improve with more glove side lead, keeping his eyes on target longer, and with a sharper CB. At the plate, Zach has a square / athletic set-up, a short / square stride, and good balance. He has average bat speed, he can work the ball gap-to-gap, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Smoothing out his load and not dropping his hands will only help offensive grades improve.
