Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/CPosition Projection

10/07/2015 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Zack is a well rounded athlete who makes things happen every time he steps onto the diamond. Offensively, this LHH is a very tough out. He battles deep into the counts and remains composed - even when behind in the count. Swing is smooth through a level path as he squares the ball up consistently and drives it on a line. He collected 6 hits, while getting hit by the pitch twice, and walking once. He was always on base. At 3B - Zack shows active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He funnels smoothly and has a quick release to throw. He moves well laterally and can make the tough backhand play down the line with ease. Zalesky is a solid prospect who will play at a very high level.

10/15/2014 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Zack was back with Baseball Factory for the 2nd year competing in the AZ Junior Fall Classic. Defensively, he continued to show his growth and ability by receiving with sure hands and throwing with accuracy in the 2.0 range. He anticipated down to block and was quick to recover. Footwork & agility drills, as well as flexibility training will increase his overall level of play. Offensively, he showed a gap-to-gap approach and was direct to contact. He stayed inside the ball well and worked aggressively on the base paths. Hitting off a stiff front side - eliminating dive will improve hit ability. All in all - Zack is an exciting player that has good tools and intangibles suited for the next level.

10/23/2013 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Zack continues to impress on the diamond. This talented backstop sits it well and shows good flexion. He moves around the ball in the dirt, centering it off of his chest. He is a vocal leader and takes charge on the field. Offensively, he shows good strike zone discipline and waits for his pitch. He doesn't let much get by him and shows some pop to his pull-side. Zack is a great team player who makes everyone around him better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
