Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

05/12/2019 - College PREP - Justin (DFW), TX Zackary is an athletic OF/LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Zackary shows active footwork and uses his speed to cover ground. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He shows a smooth rhythm and produces fast bat speed through the zone, leading to solid line drives and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Zackary gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Zackary shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 65-66mph with late 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 72-73mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Zackary is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

04/08/2018 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Zackary is a lean, athletic LHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is superior as indicated by his 60 time of 6.71. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Zackary with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
