12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Zander was a great teammate and very coachable during him time at Pirate City. Behind the plate, feet work in line towards his target through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but will benefit by getting his body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing.

11/03/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Zander is an athletic and talented catching prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend. Behind the dish, Zander presents a low target and tries to work behind the ball. He needs to continue to have a balanced primary and work under low balls. He leads with his glove and controls balls in the dirt with his chest when blocking. He needs to continue to exchange balls in front of his body and gain ground in his footwork when throwing to bases. Increasing hip mobility and arm strength will help Zander get to the next level. Zander will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/05/2018 - College PREP - Burlington, VT Zander is a catching prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Zander shows active footwork and covers up well when blocking. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws to 2B consistently on-line to the bag. Zander can improve defensively by gaining momentum on his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits from a strong front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact. Zander can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With three more years to develop, Zander has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
