12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Zane is a coachable RHP/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the West Coast Winter Classic. On the mound, Zane starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a loose arm, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Zane shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph. Breaking ball sits from 54-57mph with 11-5 break. Zane can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. In the field, Zane shows efficient footwork and flashes good range to his glove side. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Getting rid of the ball quicker can help Zane improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and works to barrel up the baseball, driving to all fields. Driving his lower half through more can help Zane improve as a hitter. With four more years to develop, Zane has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
