01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Zarif is a big, strong RHP who is aggressive on both sides of the plate and with all three pitches. At the Under Armour All America Pre-Season Tournament, he showed good tempo and worked ahead of hitters consistently. He can pitch backwards effectively and throws fastball, curveball and changeup for strikes. Front side glove action is proper but he needs to use more lower half. Also would like to see more finish out of him as opposed to the recoil. Showed at 1B as well and is a big target with pretty quick feet on his throws and a decent glove feel—especially on the backhand. Range is limited and double play footwork needs can be polished up. Lot of life in his bat. Good use of lower half and extension through contact. Has the ability to go the other way. Rolled over when his hips cleared too early. Physical kid who has the chance to be a solid player at the next level.
