01/23/2011 - College PREP - Loch Sheldrake, NY Zeb is a young, athletic, average sized 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2012. In the INF, Zeb has quick feet, soft hands, and is aggressive to the ball. He fields in a low, athletic position, he moves well laterally, and he can turn a quick double play. Zeb has a quick / clean exchange, and he throws with accuracy to his target. Defensive grades can get better if Zeb can get his glove down sooner, field more out in front of his body, and increase arm strength. Offensively, Zeb has a square set-up, short stride, and good balance. He has quick hands, average bat speed, and makes square / consistent contact with the baseball. Zeb has a short / level swing, and can get better with added physical strength, and more extension through the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
