07/16/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Zeb continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 73-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He throws a knuckleball that is still a pitch in development. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

07/14/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Zeb is a tall and lanky 2021 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Zeb has good footwork on double plays and makes accurate throws to the bases. He needs to continue to presents a low/early glove, work from the ground up, and be on time with his pre-step. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Zeb starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back. He has a direct swing path to the ball and keeps his head down at contact. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and being explosive off the back leg will allow him to drive the ball gap to gap and get extension through contact. On the bump, Zeb gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. He works down hill and has good tempo in his delivery. Zeb plays the game hard and made several adjustments throughout the week. Zeb will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/17/2018 - College PREP - Kansas City, KS Zeb is thin and talented 2021 2-way prospect. At 3B, Zeb is on time with his prep step and creates angles to the ball. He has a good firs step to the ball, makes the routine play, and throws from multiple arm slots. At the plate, Zeb starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the launch position. He hits off a frim front side and has a middle approach. On the bump, Zeb keeps his eyes on his target, separates on time, and extends thru his release point. He shows run on his fastball and has good tempo in his delivery. Zeb will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
