04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Daytona Beach, FL Zechariah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing some pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.27. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss progeam. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

03/05/2023 - National Showcase - Sanford (Orlando), FL Zechariah is a switch hitting catcher in the 2023 class. At the plate, he is balanced and shows a solid set-up. He begins with an open stance and uses a short stride that stays square to the dish. He likes to gain separation and stays inside his feet well. His barrel has feel and his path is short and direct. Shows production to both pull sides and can get behind the ball for line drive results. Defensively, he has an over-the-top release with a 2.41 pop. We look forward to seeing what the future holds as Zechariah finishes up his senior year.

07/07/2019 - Baseball Factory Cleveland All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Zechariah is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills at the Cleveland All Star Experience. Behind the plate, Zechariah tracks the ball into his glove and moves efficiently to block. Sitting in a more athletic stance can help Zechariah improve defensively. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a similar swing from both sides. He sets up in a crouched stance and is controlled getting into his load. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives into the gaps. Zechariah can improve as a hitter by activating his hands more in his load. With four more years to develop, Zechariah has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
