07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Zeke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Fastball shows a range of 67-70 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Thousand Oaks, CA Zeke is a thin, athletic SS/RHP with good skills. At SS, Zeke has agile movements to the ball, he fields in a square position, and he keeps the ball in front. He has a good idea in the INF, shows good range, and an accurate arm to his target. On the mound, Zeke stands over the rubber well, he has a clean arm action, and has good balance. He gets good extension on his pitches, lands with a proper stride, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Zeke has a tall set-up, a proper load, and good separation. He makes square contact, has a line drive approach, and uses his lower body. Zeke can improve is overall abilities with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
