07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Zion is an athletic and strong 2020 3B prospect that worked hard all week. At the hot corner, Zion is on time with his prep step, he creates angles to the ball, and presents a low/early glove. He plays through the ball with good footwork and he puts himself in a good position to throw the ball. He has good hands and is aggressive to the ball. At the plate, Zion starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back. He shows pull side power and battles at the plate. Continuing to keep the barrel inside the ball and keeping his head down at contact can keep him from spinning off the ball. Zion will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/16/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Zion continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, feet are active as he moves well laterally, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together as he presents glove well out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a balanced setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Douglasville (Atlanta), GA Zion is a strong, athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.13. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and shows a plus backhand. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are strong (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Zion has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
