04/23/2017 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Zion continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player at the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.97. At the plate, hitting / power potential has really improved, now showing outstanding abilities. He has strength in his swing (90 mph exit velocity) with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Hands are quick and stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He consistently finds the barrel, displaying gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as well, displaying smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in working to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with throws displaying accuracy and carry.

12/28/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Zion is a skills OF who has a strong/athletic build. With the bat, this RHH shows a closed setup with a solid base. Swing path is level as he connects with strength, driving it to all parts of the field. In the OF, Zion hustles into position behind the fly-ball. Arm action is quick as he whips accurate throws into his target. He will continue to develop his skills on the diamond with work on the following.

08/15/2014 - Interactive Video Program - South Williamsport, PA Zion is a big, strong, OF with very good offensive skills. At the plate, Zion has strong hands, a square set-up, and direct hands to the ball. He swings aggressively, drives his lower 1/2 through, and has good power in his bat. In the OF, Zion is quick to the ball, he has good body control, and he reads the ball well off the barrel of the bat. He plays through with proper footwork and has a strong accurate arm to his target. Zion can improve if he can work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
