12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament
A.J. only showed on the mound at the Academic All-American showcase. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. He shows three-pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows good mound presence and competes on the bump.
09/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Frederick, MD
AJ is a tall LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. On the mound, AJ gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. AJ operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 62-63mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits from 52-54mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Driving his lower half more can help AJ increase his pitch velocity. Overall, AJ is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.
08/13/2021 - Baseball Factory Summer Classic
AJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, fastball still sits mid to upper 70's with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He pounds the zone and competes. This reliable lefty works hard and will give his team a chance every time he toes the rubber.
01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS)
AJ continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he tracks proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he show a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 66 mph. Fastball shows slight cutting action Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.
07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14)
AJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows an open, athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 54-59 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.
02/24/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18)
A.J. is an athletic and talented 2022 LHP prospect that made several adjustments during the accelerated pitching and catching training weekend. On the bump, A.J. gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and stays squared toward his target. He has a loose arm action and keeps a strong glove side. Continuing to have a soft stride and finishing over the front side will allow him to work the bottom half of the zone. A.J. will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
02/10/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18)
A.J. is an athletic and hardworking prospect that made several adjustments during the hitting accelerated training weekend. At the plate, A.J. starts in an open stance and creates rhythm in his hands. He keeps a middle approach and recognizes pitches well. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and using the lower half will allow A.J. to drive the ball to all fields. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the launch position and not down. Loading down causes him to get around the ball and lose the barrel. A.J. will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14)
AJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting hands more out front. He shows good footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with 2 BB as he displays a patient approach and strong recognition of the strike zone. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 57 mph. Fastball showed a range of 54-57 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.
12/09/2017 - Hitting Accelerated Training HS- Columbia, MD
A.J. is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training. This LHH sets up in a tall stance and is fluid getting into his load. He comes through well with his lower half and makes solid contact to all fields. A.J. can improve as a hitter by taking a more square stride to the pitcher. With four more years to develop, A.J. has the potential to further develop his skills at the plate.
07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14)
AJ is a lean LHP/1B who will graduate in 2022. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 53-56 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. With 6 years to further develop, AJ has abilities with time and room to progress his game.
