11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training Aarin played both SS and RHP during his time at Pirate City. He showed soft hands, playable feet, and a loose arm. He has a bright upside in the future with his long, lean frame and good athleticism. Continuing to work on his footwork, along with a throwing program will help skills further improve. On the mound, Aarin has a good arm swing, a good finish, and he competes on the mound. Added arm strength, working in a quicker tempo, and lengthening his arm action all will help mound effectiveness further improve. Offensively, Aarin has an aggressive swing and loose stroke. He is a gap type hitter who puts the ball in play.

07/10/2010 - Cape Cod Training 2010 - Session 1 Aarin is a young (2013) SS with a tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. He showed us improvement defensively, and with his arm and bat since we last saw him a few months ago. Defensively, his feet are active but Aarin needs to be more aggressive in coming to get and playing through the baseball. He gets his body into a solid fielding position with hands presented out front, but stops his feet. Glove action is clean and sure in making the plays. He has a good rhythm in his approach defensively and takes good angles towards the ball. Currently, his arm strength is near average, so though he shows the ability to throw from different angles, he will ultimately benefit from a consistent long toss program. Offensively, Egleston shows a solid setup with balance, flashing quick hands through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half and be more explosive. Aarin is a very coachable player who asks good questions to his coaches. With 3 years to further develop, Aarin has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
