Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Katy (Houston), TX Aaron is a long, athletic 1B/LHP graduating in 2019. In the field, Aaron shows great movements and mechanics with his fluid, efficient feet and agile range. He gets into an athletic, square fielding position while presenting his hands out front and showing a great feel for backhands. He makes quick, clean exchanges into a loose arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot. Aaron makes consistently accurate throws to his targets with his quick release and using his body's momentum to throw the ball with carry and on a line. At the plate, Aaron shows a pull side approach with a lot of pop. He gets into a relaxed tall, open set up with a square stride and smooth rhythm. His lower half stays through throughout his swing while producing fast bat speed and a direct swing path to the ball. By keeping his balance center and developing extension after contact, Aaron could see more consistently hard contact at the plate. On the mound, Aaron shows repeatable mechanics and displays two pitches in his arsenal (FB and CB) from a 3/4 arm slot. He shows a good center balance gathering over the rubber and separating on time into a quick, clean arm action extending through the zone upon his release. He stays square to his target and controls his landing with proper stride length. Aaron rotates to his target when finishing but will see more accuracy by keeping his chest over his knee. Aaron has the tools that will make him an asset at the next level.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Aaron is a hardworking and very coachable two way player, who threw for the first time at a factory event. On the mound he showed well with above average arm action and a very projectable body for a pitcher. His curveball showed to be his best pitch with 1-7 action all while maintaining his fastball arm speed. At the plate he shows a balanced swing with a still head keeping it in the middle of his body. Aaron showed a better lower half at this event, while maintaining his level/direct bat path to the baseball. In the field Aaron displays okay hands, and has the ability to pick it at first, however he needs to continue to work on a consistent fielding position to improve defensively.

07/21/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Austin, TX Aaron is a solid LH hitting 1B. At the plate, this lefty shows a square setup with good balance. He delivers the barrel on a short path as he connects and sprays the ball to all fields. He has line-drive pop and squares it up consistently. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Fielding position
2. Footwork/agility
Offense
1. Load
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Extension through zone

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
