06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Aaron improved his foot speed at the event as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a sub 7 runner at 6.99. He utilizes his quick athletic feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range in the MIF. Hands are soft, clean, and sure as he shows big play potential. He needs to be more aggressive in his approach and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he displays quick hands, flashing bat speed through a short / compact swing path. At the event, he was 2 for 8 and consistently but the ball in play. Mental makeup is a plus as he displays great instincts and is very coachable.

03/03/2013 - College PREP - Austin, TX Aaron continues to progress in his game. He ran his fastest 60 time to date, running a 7.07. This lefty is a top of the line-up type of hitter who can get out of the box and make things happen on the base-paths. Offensively, he is patient a lets the ball travel into the zone. He maintains good balance throughout his swing and stays short and direct, delivering the barrel. He hits line-drives all over the field as he shows the ability to go the opposite way. Defensively, Naranjo moves quickly around the ground ball. He shows good range with the ability to get anything hit to the right side of the diamond. Aaron is a talented player who has a bright future in the game.

08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Naranjo continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive grades in the MIF have improved with his hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. He attacks balls through a low approach and presents hands well out front. Arm strength has improved slightly as he will benefit by building more carry through a long toss program. At the plate, Aaron shows a balanced setup with a solid eye and strong recognition of the strike zone. His hands are quick, flashing bat speed but needs to keep his hands high and level out his swing path to improve hitting grades. Power numbers will increase as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 4 for 6 with 2 BB and a HBP. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and solid understanding of the game.

05/13/2012 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Aaron is a 2B that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.14 60 time. Feet are quick / active as he come gets the baseball through a low approach and displays clean hands. He needs to play through balls more while presenting hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grades. Throws are accurate but needs to get on a long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. At the plate, Naranjo shows a balanced approach and setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and improve hitting grades. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more through the swing. With 2 years to further develop, Aaron has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
