11/19/2023 - National Showcase - Bronx, NY Abinet continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, shows a good feel for pitch with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Manalapan, NJ Abinet is a 2025 OF/LHP prospect with an athletic frame at 5'10" 150 pounds. In the OF, he shows off active feet and covers ground to all angles. He does a good job of breaking down and making all the routine plays while catching the ball high. His exchange is clean and he throws with a long arm action from a low 3/4 slot. He works hard to follow his throws to his cutoffs. At the plate, he starts in a squared, athletic crouched stance and has a short, squared stride towards the pitcher. He has fluid, smooth rhythm and does a good job of keeping his balance centered throughout his swing. He does a great job of staying direct to the baseball and projects as a line drive hitter. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 arm angle and features a loose, clean arm action. He does a good job of gathering his balance over the rubber and stays squared to the plate on delivery. He gets into a nice balance point and gets solid extension with his lead arm. His stride length fits his frame and he has a smooth, controlled landing. He does a good job of throwing strikes with his FB. His CB has a 2-9 gradual break and he does a good job of throwing his CH with FB arm speed which gives it some tail. Abinet is an exciting prospect that we are excited to see more of!

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Abinet is a 2025 LHP/OF prospect. In the field, he gets into a relaxed ready position that allows him to get into an on-time fielding position. He has quick feet and exhibits good range and a quick exchange. His hands are sure and he's able to make most plays with accurate throws. At the plate, he has a squared stance with loose hands. His stride is soft and controlled that leads to good rhythm with an on-plane swing. Makes consistent contact with the help of a centered lower half. On the mound, he works with a high 3/4 arm angle with good balance and good direction towards the plate. Throws his OS pitches for strikes but can afford to use his CH more. Attacks with his FB but can get more out of his lower half. Long toss can help build his arm strength.

11/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Bronx, NY Abinet is an athletic 2-way player who will graduate in 2025. In the OF, Abinet has active feet, he covers ground well, and he gets in a good ready position. He presents well, shows good range, and throws with accuracy and momentum from a loose arm action to his cut off man. If Abinet can catch at the highest point, quicken his exchange, and add arm strength, defensive grades can improve. On the mound, this LHP has good balance, a clean arm circle, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He has good glove side lead, a controlled landing, and he repeats his delivery well. More lower body and finish will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Abinet has an athletic stance, a square stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He has quick hands, an aggressive swing, and he can spray to all fields. More balance, a shorter swing path, and added lower 1/2 will help hitting spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
