07/29/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Adam continues to show as a catcher and has improved his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, displaying gap to gap pop. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to use his lower half more efficiently. Pop times showed in the low 2.10 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a good team leader, very coachable, and works hard.

06/30/2015 - College PREP - Rindge, NH Adam is an intriguing C/2B that threw pops in the 1.95 - 2.1 range in his first Baseball Factory outing. Behind the dish, he worked his eyes behind the baseball to receive in front with a sure glove, and was soft to block the ball and deaden in front. He worked his feet efficiently to throw and was controlled with his body to allow for good momentum and carry. At 2B, he worked hard to get to his fielding position and made the routine plays. Knee bend to promote hands in front and more reps will improve infield play. Offensively, he was balanced throughout the swing, direct with his bat path and used the entire field. He rotated his core to get the barrel head through the zone and should continue to work his hands and hips together for frequent hard contact. All in all - Martinese is about to enter his senior year with present tools and a frame to mold.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
