03/18/2018 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Adam is a lanky LHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and utilizes all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft /sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play, getting rid of the baseball quickly. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 67-68 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with tailing action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Adam has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
