04/09/2017 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Adams is a lean, lanky RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 74-75 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break and shows as a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive but needs to get behind balls to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work to and through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Adams has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
