01/19/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament AJ is a 2028 1B/RHP prospect that recently showed his skills at the Rookie Pre-Season All-American Tournament. At first, he starts in an athletic position on the balls of his feet. He works hard to keep the ball in front and square plays up. He has a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly on throws. He has an impressive arm and can make all the throws while staying accurate to his targets. At the plate, he starts in a crouched, closed stance and has a squared stride toward the pitcher. He stays controlled with his movements and has a firm-frontside with his lower half. He shows off good barrel control and has a compact swing while showing the ability to extend through contact. He is able to spray the ball to all fields and greatly improved on his previous exit velo with a mark of 79 MPH. He reached base in 2 of 6 plate appearances with a single and a walk. On the mound, he has a good presence and excellent poise. He has a simple starter step and does well to gather his balance while getting fluid, on-time separation. He has a full finish with his arm action and he does a great job of keeping his stride in-line to his target. He ran his FB up to 75 MPH and showed some arm-side run with a 2-seam. His CB exhibited sharp, 11-5 break and he does a great job of throwing his CH with FB arm speed. He struck out 2 in 3 innings of work and didn't allow a hit. With improved command, he should make great strides on the mound. Overall, AJ is an intriguing prospect that we are excited to see more of as he continues to develop!
