10/01/2023 - National Showcase - Hoover (Birmingham), AL AJ is an athletic switch-hitting OF/LHP in the 2029 class. In the field, his feet are active and covers his defensive zones with agility. Shows pocket awareness and redirects the baseball with clean actions. Arm is loose at 81 velo and is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he is highly projectable and his body moves well through his delivery. He is in command of all three pitches with loose, quick and clean arm actions. His FB sat 74-6 with both sink and run. His CB/SL combo had late sharp break and ranged 61-3. His CH showed run and deception at 68. At the plate, he was equally impressive with his barrel control. He works to stay inside the pitch and can drive the baseball to all fields from both sides. Swing is loose and he has the ability to stay through the ball with great extension. Overall, scouts feel he is a next level player and can make an impact at the right college.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
