08/29/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Baltimore, MD AJ, a tall and versatile middle infielder and right-handed pitcher (RHP), impressed scouts with his two-way performance at the Ripken Games in Maryland. His skills both defensively and on the mound, combined with his plate discipline and baserunning, make him a well-rounded and impactful player. Defensively: AJ possesses solid skills in the infield, capable of playing effectively on both sides of the bag. His versatility makes him a valuable defensive asset. Not only strong in the infield, but AJ also showcased his defensive prowess on the mound by making a spectacular catch in foul territory, proving his athleticism and field awareness. On the Mound: AJ uses a high leg kick to generate leverage and works with a great tempo, keeping hitters off balance. His fastball sits between 55-57 mph, complemented by a curveball ranging from 51-53 mph. His loose arm action and ability to mix pitches effectively make him a tough competitor on the mound. At the Plate: AJ demonstrated exceptional patience at the plate, reaching base in 7 out of 8 plate appearances, making him an on-base machine during the event. Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
