03/03/2013 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Alec is a corner infielder with a tall and solid build. He excels offensively and shows some pop. He displays an open stance and gets to a solid loaded position. He remains balanced throughout his swing and gets the barrel through the zone quickly, resulting in hard contact. Using his lower 1/2 more will only help to increase his power at the plate. Defensively at 3B, Alec maintains active footwork and he works to get into a square fielding position. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws across the diamond. At 1B, he has sure hands and makes the plays. He has good footwork around the bag and has the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. He projects better as a 1B. As only a 2015 graduate, this talented player still has a couple years to polish up on his tools.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
