06/22/2010 - College PREP - Houston, TX Alec is a long, lean, 2-way player that Pitches and plays OF. He currently projects better on the mound as he approaches his Senior year. On the hill, Alec has an easy arm action and gets good A/S run on his FB. He is inline to his target, has sound off-speed pitches, and is very projectable. A little looser overall actions and more aggression can help pitchability improve. In the OF, Alec has good hands and footwork. He is light on his feet, stays behind the baseball, and he gathers himself well. Alec has nice arm action with carry to his target. Defensive abilities can improve if Alec can take better angles on ground balls and avoid some of his A/S run when he throws to his target. Offensively, Alec has good bat speed and barrel accuracy. He has active hands, a fluid / easy swing, and he gets his bottom hand through the ball. A lower stance and more lower 1/2 involvement should help Alec's hitting grades get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
