06/14/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida This athletic MIF shows a tremendous future on the diamond. A LHH - hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving the ball with power showing best to the pull side. Defensively, he takes a quick first step (6.94 60 time) and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (89 mph velocity) on his throws. Defensive abilities are at a near pro level as he shows big play potential. Alec has a ton of upside and possesses the skill-set that will play at a very high level.

09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Alec is one of most advanced game hitters in the 2018 class. He has an uncanny knack for finding the barrel against quality pitching. and he showed it again at the BF UA Futures event with a long ground-rule double to RF and a lineout to shortstop in three at bats. He stalks pitches with a high, hanging leg kick and uses a coordinated stroke, employing both hands working together through contact and the finish. His eye/hand coordination and barrel awareness are outstanding. As a defender Alec seems to fit best at 2B with solid hands and his comfort level with a lower arm slot. There can be more efficiency with his footwork as well as generally quickening the feet to enhance his range. The bat is currently ahead of the defense, but high quality bats are always in demand.

09/19/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Sanchez is a naturally gifted hitter with rhythm to hit and advanced ability to see and react to quality stuff. His pre-pitch action involves a high & hanging stride and little movement with his hands, but he is able to get his hands moving effectively to contact. He made better swings against live stuff in games than in BP, which is extremely rare for young hitters. He kept his hands back on a breaking ball for a sac fly in his first at bat, and made a nice pass against a fastball later in the game. Defensively he isn't as far along, but has some things to work with. He showed an idea for creating angles on balls at him and to his left, and showed good body control to complete plays with off balance or on the run throws. His hands worked fine, and he has enough arm strength to turn the double play from second base. Overall, an instinctual hitter with potentially versatile defensive ability that could fit at either 2B or 3B.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
