01/15/2010 - Vero Beach Spring Training & Competition - 2010 Garlets improved his 60-yard dash quite a bit, got it down from 7.84 to 7.50. At the plate, he made regular contact and did a good job of staying on top of the ball to produce ground ball contact. In addition, he showed some feel for running the bases - a good skill to posses with his improving speed. Can work to stay more solid with his front foot through contact, tended to over rotate his front side which let his front shoulder and hip pull out early. In addition, work to improve the load of his hands will help generate more bat speed. Defensively, showed potential with improving speed. Can work to improve his reads and routes to the ball, and needs to work on keeping his elbow up to help improve backspin and carry on throws from the outfield. Overall, a young player with plenty of time to develop his skills and to mature physically.
