02/24/2013 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Alex is a young SS that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.43 60 time. Feet are quick / aggressive as he moves well laterally, displaying range in the MINF. He attacks ground balls and plays through well while presenting hands well out front. Glove is soft / clean / sure as he makes all the plays. Arm strength is solid as well with throws showing accuracy, and carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Holderbach continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through at contact as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered with power numbers improving as he learns to load and use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Alex has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
