04/05/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach, SC Alex represented the Stripes team at the PreSeason All-Ripken Games and was an on-base machine. He reached cleanly in 6 of his 12 plate appearances and showed quick hands and a coordinated lower half as a hitter. He uses the entire field well and accelerates well through contact. At 1B Alex has solid hands, is comfortable going to his backhand and provides a good target with an on-time stretch. Some additional agility work will help expand his lateral range. Alex was good on the mound as well with sound mechanics and good tempo to his delivery. HIs front side works well and he threw a good number of strikes, though we would like to see him get comfortable pitching more inside. Overall, this is a versatile young prospect with a bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
