06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Alex continues to show a promising future on the diamond and continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.23. At the plate, he improved his hitting abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the MIF, defensive abilities are well above average, displaying smooth, fluid actions. Feet are quick as he moves well laterally, displaying plus range in the MIF. He plays through balls and presents glove well out front. Hands / feet work well together and he shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/10/2016 - College PREP - Jacksonville, FL Alex is a lean SS/OF who will graduate in 2016. At the plate is where he shows best through a soft setup with balance. Hand are quick and work through a short / level swing path. He shows a solid line drive type approach and works inside the ball utilizing all fields. Power will continue to improve as he creates more extension through contact. In the IF, feet are active as he works around balls, displaying good body control. Hands are soft, clean as he presents well out front. In the OF, he takes proper first steps in working to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by following through to his target with body. Alex has potential with a lot of room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
