04/25/2010 - College PREP - Fort Washington, PA Alex again showed similar skills at the the 4/25 workout as he did in Omaha. He did improve his hitting and power grades at the workout. Alex blocks and receives the ball well, shows a soft glove, and he looks the ball in. He holds a firm wrist when receiving, and has a soft chest, and he covers the "5" hole when blocking. Alex has an accurate arm to 2nd base, and shows pop times as low as 2.40. Defensive abilities can continue to improve with added arm strength, a quicker exchange, and by working on his angles when blocking the baseball. Offensively, Alex improved his hitting and power grades from 38 to 40 and 35 to 42 respectively. He has good balance, he tracks the ball well, and shows pretty good bat speed. Alex sprays the ball to all fields, and with a more level swing and improved barrel accuracy, offensive grades can continue to improve.
