02/07/2010 - College PREP - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Alex is a lean, RHP with good stuff. He throws a heavy FB, with sink, and can get it up to 87 MPH. Alex has a tight 11/5 CB with good bite and depth. His balance is good, he throws strikes, and his ball tends to have A/S run. Abilities can improve with a more closed front side, longer arm action, and by avoiding throwing across his body. Offensively, Alex has good bat speed and barrel accuracy. He is a contact hitter with a good trigger and some pull side pop. If Alex can avoid diving down to the ball, keep a firm front side, and not spin off the baseball, hitting can further improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
